Caversham Celebrates Rainbow Birthday

Caversham District Rainbows celebrated the Rainbows’ 30th Birthday at RSME (Reading Society of Model Engineers) Prospect Park, where girls from the 3 local units and a few Brownie siblings came together and had a fantastic afternoon on 25th June.

Leader wins Service to Earley Award

Tracy Wilson, who is an Assistant Leader with 2nd Lower Earley Brownie Unit, was recently awarded a Service to Earley Award. The awards are presented by Earley Town Council to local people who undertake service to the benefit of others in the town. Tracy was nominated for her services to local Guiding in Earley by Town Councillor Linda Chambers.

Tracy is pictured here (far right) receiving her award from Mayor of Earley, Jackie Rance (centre) and Earley Town Councillor, Laura Blumenthal (far left) who is one of Tracy’s former Brownies!

In addition to her unit role, Tracy also skippers a narrowboat for Girlguiding groups.

Guides in Tilehurst Lead on Scam Awareness

5th Tilehurst Guides have been working with Trading Standards in urging local residents to ‘take a stand against scams’ during this year’s Scam Awareness Month.

The campaign, held every July, helps to bring awareness to the risk of financial scams, and the impact that they can have on a person’s life – whether they are by phone, online, mail or on the doorstep. Scams can be hugely detrimental to a victim’s life; although most tend to be relatively small, often unreported, some can see people lose their life savings.

Cold Ash Guides Visit Trindledown Farm

Earlier this term, 1st Cold Ash Guides paid a visit to Trindledown Farm, a National Animal Welfare Trust site on the edge of the Lambourn Downs, where they got to meet lots of different animals and hear lots about them.
