Hungerford Orienteering Challenge

Brownies and Rainbows solved clues in the glorious sunshine when they took part in Girlguiding Hungerford District’s inaugural orienteering challenge at Cobbs Farm on 2nd July.

More than 35 Rainbows and Brownies from Hungerford, Lambourn and Kintbury took to the farm’s orienteering course in teams, complete with maps and compasses to find caches and solve 15 challenging clues.

Earley leader wins Liz Bracewell Award

An inspirational young woman from Earley was recently recognised for her commitment and dedication to Guiding when she was named recipient of a prestigious, annually-presented County award.

Melissa Newman, aged 23, who until recently was Unit Leader with Earley Senior Section, has been awarded The Liz Bracewell Award. The award is presented each year to a young woman who has played an active role in Guiding and has demonstrated sustained involvement in the community and personal development.

Chill Camp

We are sad to announce that the Chill Camp for Senior Section members will no longer be going ahead this year. It was scheduled for September, but unfortunately has not had enough take up.

Keep an eye out as we hope to keep announcing more events taking place across the County, and we don't want anyone to miss out!

Venture Force Foundation Update

Games Night Fundraiser

Girlguiding Berkshire and the Venture Force Foundation recently held a games evening in Newbury to raise funds for the foundation. It involved skittles and bingo as well as dinner and a raffle, and in total they raised over £500!

Well done and thank you to everyone who came along and supported the charity.

Wokingham Commissioner wins Civic Award

Rachel Paterson, the Division Commissioner for Wokingham, has been presented with a Winnersh Parish Civic Award for her services to Girlguiding. She is also the Unit Leader with 2nd Winnersh Brownies.

Here she is receiving the award this weekend at the Winnersh Summer Fete.
