South East Division

The highlight of 2012 was the Jubilee Event at Lily Hill Park (30th June). 500+ members of
Girlguiding from 5 to 86 joined together for a fun afternoon of Jubilee themed wide games,
picnic and campfire. We were fortunate with the weather and a great time was enjoyed by
all.

We have seen the opening of 3 new Rainbow Units (Downshire, Bracknell West and North
Ascot Districts) and we have opened a multi-age range unit (Rainbows & Brownies) at LVS
Ascot as they approached us wanting to offer something to girl pupils. Sadly we have also
closed units.

Recruitment of adult volunteers continues to be a key focus area to ensue we maintain our
existing units as well as creating new opportunities for girls to join us.

There is great excitement across the Division that a number of girls successfully completed
the INTOPS selection and are now looking forward to the Iceland trip and a Region trip to
Mexico in 2014! Plenty of fundraising is in progress.

A Rainbow and Guide Unit in (North and South Ascot) enjoyed meeting an Olympic Torch
Bearer and seeing her torch (Penny Knight's daughter)

5 Guides in South Ascot were awarded their Patrol Camp Licenses.

A number of units have enjoyed holidays and camps in 2013 and a number of leaders
completing their licences.

A number of Rainbow Units had a great time celebrating 25 years of Rainbows.

Charity activities have continued throughout the Division, including a Swimathon,
participating in a sponsored walk for Help the Aged and participation in various summer fetes
and carnivals.

Many units were on parade on Remembrance Sunday in various locations across the Division
and a small representation from the Division joined the Scouts for St George’s Day parade in
Bracknell.
