Swan Division

We started the year by celebrating Thinking day as a division with the theme based
around the traditions of guiding badge. The guides did most of their activities outside
as it was a dry sunny day and not too cold even managing to have a barbecue! The
year went on with units enjoying a variety of activates from swimming, bowling and
lots of badge work to one brownie unit,8th Langley, having an amazing encounter
with some owls. Graham Cornick took his rescue animals and owls along to visit and
gave a talk called “A talk on the wildside”. A number of units enjoyed sleepovers,
holidays and camps, despite the weather, with a few leaders gaining their residential
qualifications, congratulations to them all!

Last summer was filled with Olympic and Jubilee fever and the girls enjoying Jubilee
picnic’s and street parties and trying out a whole range of new challenges as part the
special experience.

Going in to the winter months, the county ready steady craft competition, children in
need fundraising and pantomimes have kept the units busy. Britwell Guides braved
the snow in January to get to London and see the brilliant show “Wicked” while 3rd
Slough guides have been busy fundraising for their summer trip to Switzerland.

The division would like to say thank you to Jean Beckett who finished her time as
division Commissioner in December. Jean is carrying on as assistant leader with 2 nd
Priory guides.
